Our annual Remembrance Day Assembly will be held on Friday, November 10th. The students and staff at LAPS have been involved in a variety of learning experiences around Remembrance Day, our veterans, and what it means to be Canadian.
Due to limited space in our school gym, this will be a school assembly only for our students.
As we did for our Toonies for Terry Fox Campaign, we are asking for our LAPS families to consider giving a small donation for our Canadian veterans for the annual Poppy Campaign. This is where your poppy donations are spent by Veterans Affairs Canada:
- Building affordable housing for veterans and senior citizens
- Providing support services to senior citizens (Meals on Wheels, drop-in centres)
- Providing assistance to needy ex-service members and their families
- Purchasing medical equipment and appliances for community health facilities
- Paying for medical research and training
- Paying for bursaries for needy students
All students will be receiving a poppy, regardless of donations. Any donations will be welcomed, and accepted by your child’s teacher for our Veterans Affairs Canada Poppy Collection box.
